Remembrance Day and Ball: November 19, 2005, Gettysburg, PA. There were several from BLA who attended this awesome weekend. Here are a couple of pictures from the parade. Our officers were honored with the presence of walking with Gen. Lee (a gentleman who is actually a descendant of the real Gen. Lee). We (Phill, Karen, Craig, Sandi, Bob and LuAnn) did some shopping, lots of walking, and enjoyed some wonderful food and great company on Friday. We caught up with Eric, Eileen, Marty and Roland for the parade on Saturday. Saturday early evening Eric, Eileen, Bob and LuAnn met at the Soldiers Cemetery for the Illumination of the graves (see picture below) then had dinner. Finally, it was time for the ball. Bob and LuAnn were very late to their first Ball! Yes, it was very interesting getting ready for the Ball. If it could go wrong. . . . it did! But they finally made it. Everyone had a great time.
Cedar Creek was a successful and rather warm event. We encountered some gusty winds but otherwise the weather was exceptional for October in Virginia. No snow or 30 degrees for a change.
This event was well attended by a majority of the members. It was also a pleasure as always to have our long distant members, James and Dawna join us. We had some new guests. Miss Nikki joined us so she could enjoy a national event. And Walter, Brandon’s grandfather, made the trek so that Brandon could be involved in this national. It was a pleasure to have you join us and we hope to see you at some of next year’s events.
Our condolences to a couple of Civil War families.
We feel the loss that Brandon has with his Grandmother’s passing. Our love and prayers go out to Brandon and his family. Please contact Eric and Eileen if you wish to help the family in any way.
Our dear friends and civil war colleagues, Roy and Dana Williams have endured a tragic family loss with the death of their 15 year old son TJ. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to them in their time of sorrow. Phill and Karen have taken donations for the family. If you wish to give, please send checks to Phill. He will arrange for the money to get to them.
