Alexander's Battalion, Longstreet's Corps

Operations Order 2012-1

Corps and Battalion Meeting 01/27/2012-1/29/2012

ATTENTION BATTERIES AND UNITS OF ALEXANDER'S BATTALION, LONGSTREET'S CORPS:

SITUATION:

Officers and representatives of branches and units of Longstreet’s Corps (Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery) are requested to convene to discuss past business and new business pertaining to future Corps deployment and leadership. The venue will be the Best Western-Lee-Jackson Hotel, 711 Millwood Ave.  Winchester, Virginia as described in the email previously posted by Col. Greg Gallion. The information is also available on the Corps web site at Longstreetscorps.com.

A separate meeting for Longstreet’s Artillery branch, Alexander’s Battalion, has been scheduled to convene Sunday January 29, 2012 at 9:00am at the same venue to discuss Battalion business.

MISSION:

All Battalion officers or representatives of participating batteries and support units will assemble at the designated location on or about Friday, January 27, 2012 or on time for the Corps meeting on Saturday January 28, 2012 and are to be available for the Battalion meeting on Sunday 01/29/2012.

EXECUTION:

1) Each unit is allowed two (2) representatives at the Corps meeting and designated seating is expected to be provided (see the Corps meeting announcement for details). Additional personnel will be given space in a separate area.

2) Please respond to this Adjutant with your intent to attend and your approximate arrival time.

MESS:

Most meals will be individually foraged, however, battalion adjutant, Major Tim Fogarty is taking reservations to dine at the Golden Corral Restaurant, nearby, on Saturday evening. I’m sure most of you remember the debacle we had at Texas Roadhouse last year. This place everyone pays for themselves up front and you can eat as little or as much as you care to. The quality of food is decent. If you wish to go, please be in the lobby area about 6:15pm and we’ll follow one another over.  Please RSVP to this adjutant if you plan to attend dinner at the Golden Corral.  Other suggestions are welcome at this time.

Please give a big welcome our newest probationary members of Alexander’s Battalion, Charlotte Artillery and Edenton Bell Artillery Batterys, both who are from the great southern state of North Carolina. We look forward to working with and enjoying their comeradeship in camp and on the field for years to come.

Major Tim Fogarty
