 Although retired from reenacting  Col. Jack Travis formerly held the position of National Civil War Artillery Association (NCWAA) Region 7 Inspector for North and South Carolina. At the present time, Colonel Travis is in the process of writing a narrative on THE ROWAN ARTILLERY OF NORTH CAROLINA and a biography on its two commanders, MAJ.JAMES REILLY and CAPT. JOHN RAMSAY, titled "MEN OF GOD, ANGELS OF DEATH".

Col. Travis, being an experienced public speaker and historian, conducts programs, lectures and living histories on Civil War Reenacting, Artillery and  General E. Porter Alexander.
